Glowburn and Radscars

Thousands of years after the Great Disaster, civilization has been reduced to a handful of stone age villages scattered throughout the hothouse jungle and irradiated deserts of the new world. Remnants of the old world remain, hidden away in bunkers and vaults below the surface. Brave adventurers plumb these depths to find valuable artifacts of the ancients, to bring power and prosperity to their villages.

Glowburn and Radscars is an adventure game that attempts to combine Cairn and Mutant Crawl Classics (MCC), inspired by Spellburn and Battlescars' treatment of Dungeon Crawl Classics (DCC). The full text of the game is licensed under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/

What makes Glowburn and Radscars unique?

• Character Archetypes - inspired by the class-like archetypes of Spellburn and Battlescars, flavored to match the tone and setting of post-apocalyptic adventure games
• Powerful Mutation Abilities - built upon the GLOG magic hack for Cairn, a risk vs reward system for activating the powers granted to you by the glow
• Experimenting with Artifacts - a method for working out how to use the strange objects you find, with valuable rewards for success and dire consequences for failure

This is an art-free, early draft of the final game which I am making available as pay-what-you-want. My primary goal is to get this game out there so that other people who enjoy the post-apocalyptic themes of games like MCC or Gamma World can play those classic adventures with a more rule-light system. Donations are greatly appreciated, and will be used towards funding a more complete version with professional layout and art.

This document has everything you need to run adventures in a dangerous world of mutants and mayhem, and includes guidelines for converting existing adventures.

An official character sheet is still in the works, but in the meantime I have created a Google Sheets version that I used for playtesting. Feel free to copy and add to your own drive!
